You'll have to forgive me, I've never been very good at summing things up. I can barely sum up a movie, let alone a few decades. But I'll give it a go.

My story began in Arkansas, had a couple of chapters in Washington, D.C., and the latest chapter takes place in Brooklyn, NY at the top of a five-story walkup. Along the way I developed strong feelings about BBQ, a passion for non-profit work, and a love of programming. Before settling on programing, I was a painter, dancer, online-hotline volunteer, bartender, office manager, administrative assistant, and a Sunlighter.

After several months of classes, self-teaching (and loving prodding from friends), I decided to quit my job and follow my dream to become a full-time programmer. I spent three months at the Recurse Center, which I followed-up with a three month internship through Outreachy. Now I work with Cadasta in the perfect combination of everything I love: non-profit, programming, and open data.

When I'm not working, I enjoy painting, dancing, solving puzzles, drinking good bourbon, and reading Terry Pratchett.
